Narcotics stolen from the Oconee Health Campus

Oconee County authorities are working to determine the identity of a suspect who stole a large amount of narcotics from a pharmacy in the Oconee Health Campus. According to the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, the crime happened two weeks ago early in the morning at the Piedmont Athens Regional Medical facility located on Jennings Mill Road.

The burglar entered the building by using a metal punch to break a window leading to the lobby and then broke a second window at the pharmacy. The lone male took about $10,000 worth of oxycodone or OxyContin. Oconee County Sheriff James Hale says that although a suspect has not been identified, investigators believe the person may be connected to a group that is breaking into pharmacies across the Southeast.
