The Clarke County Sheriff’s Office is holding a free Youth Summit this weekend. The gathering is aimed at empowering students with knowledge and skills to tackle issues they encounter. Chief Un Twann Leverett is leading the event, which will feature speakers from the community as well as law enforcement officers.
The Youth Summit will address several issues including gun violence prevention and gang violence prevention, as well as mock law enforcement stops. Leverett says those attending will receive practical information they can put to use immediately. He is teaching a session on how to act during police traffic stops.
The summit is Saturday, July 15th from 10 am until 2 pm at the Boys and Girls Club located at 440 Dearing Extension. While the focus is on middle school students, anyone is welcome to attend.
