Georgia Public Broadcasting administrator named network CEO

A veteran administrator at Georgia Public Broadcasting is stepping up to become the state network’s CEO. Governor Kemp announced Friday that Bert Huffman has been named to the post. Bert Huffman began working at GPB in 2014 as its first vice president for development and marketing.

He later became senior vice president of external affairs before being named president in 2021. Before joining GPB, Huffman held top management roles at The Atlanta Opera and Emory University. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Tennessee Wesleyan University and a master’s degree from Kennesaw State University.

Brian Dill, chairman of the Georgia Public Telecommunications Commission, which oversees GPB, said Huffman has a record of dedicated service that will help guide GPB in fulfilling its mission across its television, radio, and educational services throughout the state. Huffman succeeds Teya Ryan, who retired from GPB last spring.

Jeff has delivered morning news at WUGA Radio for more than a decade. He was among a team at CNN that won a George Foster Peabody Award in 1991 for an educational product based on the fall of the Soviet Union. He also won an Edward R. Murrow Award from Radio Television Digital News Association in 2007 for producing a series for WSB Radio on financial scams. Jeff is a graduate of the Babcock Graduate School of Management at Wake Forest University (MBA) and holds a BS in Business Administration from Campbell University, both in North Carolina.
