Athens Banner-Herald

Nearly 3,000 students could turn their tassels today for the University of Georgia’s Fall Commencement Ceremonies. More than 1600 undergraduate students and 1300 graduate students have met the requirements to graduate. The undergraduate ceremony occurred at 10 a.m. this morning at Stegeman Coliseum and the graduate ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. in the same place.

UGA alum and University of Tennessee emeritus professor of finance Harold Alonzo Black delivered the address at the undergraduate commencement. Black was among the first African American students to enroll as freshmen and complete their undergraduate degrees at UGA. Dean Dale Greene of the Warner School of Forestry and Natural Resources will speak at the graduate ceremony.
