The Clarke County Board of Education announced new board leaders at its biennial officer elections last Thursday, January 11th.
Dr. Mumbi Anderson (District 6) was elected as the board President, succeeding Dr. LaKeisha Gantt (District 7). Mr. Mark Evans (District 9) assumed the role of Vice President. These elections, a customary practice during the first board meeting of even-numbered years, filled recent vacancies.
Dr. Anderson, previously Vice President since 2022, brings a background in education and community involvement. Serving on the board since 2020, her term extends until December 2024. Mr. Evans, first elected in 2022, holds an assistant professor position at Piedmont University and serves until December 2026.
