The advisory committee for the mall-area tax allocation district redevelopment project met earlier this week to discuss updates.
At Tuesday’s meeting, members of the advisory committee heard from John Williams, a representative from the Leaven Group, who is responsible for developing the mall. Williams discussed details of a childcare center that will be part of the project, in partnership with the Clarke County School District.
“We have a great need for kids who can't get bused to Oconee County and don't have other means. And this is exactly what this campus will serve, is kids that are in the Clarke County School System. They will be able to get bused by the school system to the mall, dropped off, parents can pick them up at 5 or 6 o’clock,” he explained.
The mall redevelopment project will also create affordable and market-rate housing. For WUGA News, I’m Emma Auer.
