UGA approves new majors, minors, certificates in Engineering, Education, Geology, and more

University of Georgia students will have a number of new majors to choose from, starting next year. The University of Georgia’s University Council approved the creation of a Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering. The College of Engineering will offer the major and a new graduate certificate in Natural Infrastructure in fall 2024.

The Mary Frances Early College of Education will offer two new undergraduate certificates in Dyslexia and English to Speakers of Other Languages and eight new graduate certificates in the upcoming fall semester.

The Franklin College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Geology will offer minors in Conservation Paleobiology, Environmental Geology, Geoenergy and Mineral Resources and Solid Earth Dynamics. All programs will be available this fall.

The University Council also approved the creation of a minor in Jewish Studies, a graduate certificate in Crisis, Risk and Disaster Communication in the Grady College of Journalism and approved three graduate programs to be offered online for the fall 2024 semester.
