Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center recognized as one of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals

Newsweek magazine has recognized Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center as one of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals. Piedmont in Athens and Piedmont Atlanta Hospital were the only two hospitals in Georgia to receive the recognition by earning five ribbons.

Piedmont Athens has an obstetric emergency department reserved for pregnant women experiencing a medical emergency and for babies who need medical intervention after birth. The women’s team delivered about 3,000 babies a year. Newsweek reported that its list is based on a nationwide online survey of hospitals, along with public surveys regarding patient experience, along with Medicare and Medicaid reports.
