Clarke County Families now Required to buy School Supplies

Nicole Jordan

As some federal COVID recovery funds have run dry in Clarke County, so have subsidized school supplies for students. Now most schools are again requiring families to purchase supplies for the upcoming school year. WUGA’s Mary Ryan Howarth has more.

The Clarke County School District announced the school supply lists last week, with few exceptions on having to purchase said items. Only Bettye (betty) H. Holston Elementary, Cleveland Road Elementary, and Burney-Harris-Lyons Middle will be providing all supplies for students, thanks to funding from other sources. Barnett Shoals Elementary only requires families to supply a backpack and headphones.

CCSD plans to hold school supply drives and giveaways later this month.
