The ACCGov Animal Shelter will begin accepting all dogs today, after dealing with a PARVO outbreak and space constraints. WUGA’s Mary Ryan Howarth has more:

Two puppies tested positive for canine parvovirus on July 8, which typically lasts 7 to 15 days. Since then, the shelter has stopped accepting owner-surrendered dogs and has kept the puppy visitor area closed to contain the highly contagious virus.

Stray dog intakes and owner reclaims of dogs, as well as cat adoptions and cat intakes, have continued since the virus outbreak.

The shelter continues to perform specialized cleaning processes to minimize the spread of the virus as well.
