Tropical storm Helene barreled through Northeast Georgia this morning, bringing with it several inches of rain and high winds. Trees and power lines are down across the county, causing thousands of homes to lose power and several roads to close.

Georgia Power, Walton EMC, and Jackson EMC have reported thousands of homes without power, and are still assessing when services can be restored.

Major roads closed around the county include Loop 10 and Atlanta Highway. Traffic signals on several other highly trafficked roads have been impacted, including on Alps Road, Milledge Avenue, and Baxter Street.
