Wednesday, the ACC Police Department released reports on the vehicle checkpoint that was conducted on October 18. Organizers say the goal of the checkpoint is to make sure that motorists are practicing safe driving by protecting themselves and others while driving.
Police were stationed at DR MLK JR Parkway at Second St. and GA –10 Inner Loop Exit Ramp at College Station Rd. At these checkpoints over 450 vehicles were checked and there was a total of 34 violations and contacts in addition to 5 arrests that were made.
Sergeant Vincent Schill, a member of the ACCPD Traffic Unit and organizer of the vehicle checkpoints was pleased to announce that there was a 13% decrease in traffic crashes this year.
“We want to keep up the momentum by asking drivers not to drink and drive, stay focused, avoid distractions, and drive safely to protect themselves and others,” Schill said
