UGA presents Voting Rights exhibition

An exhibition titled after the late U.S. Representative, John Lewis, explores the fight for voting rights in America by disadvantaged groups and minorities.

Precious, Almost Sacred: Voting Rights in America, is on display at the UGA Special Collections Libraries. The exhibit contains photos, newspaper reports, letters, and other artifacts from the Russell Libray archives to reflect on Georgia's expansion of voting rights over time.

The exhibit examines monumental steps like the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which began the journey towards removing racial discrimination at the polls. Displays also look into how voting has changed over time through the creation of absentee ballots, allowing soldiers to mail-in ballots from war zones.

UGA Special Collections Libraries is located on Hull St. on campus and the display will be open through May.
