Mayor Girtz and State Rep Spencer Frye call on Kemp to release frozen federal climate funds

Athens-Clarke County Government

Athens Mayor Kelly Girtz, State Rep. Spencer Frye, and others are calling on the governor to work to release federal funds pledged for climate and environmental projects in Georgia.

At a press conference held under the solar panels at the ACC Library, Representative Frye asked Governor Kemp to stand up to the administration and get the funds restored, saying small businesses across the state are at risk because the funds were frozen. He also said the federal government is being used to enrich the billionaire class and the old guard at the expense of our small business communities and at the expense of our environment.

The news conference was sponsored by Climate Action Campaign, a Washington-based organization that supports federal rules to address climate change.
