U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock returned to his hometown this week to sound the alarm over Republican efforts to repeal clean energy tax credits included in the Inflation Reduction Act, warning that such cuts could cost Georgia up to 42,000 jobs and $28 billion in investments.
Speaking at the Georgia Ports Authority, Warnock unveiled a new report showing that since the IRA’s passage in 2022, Georgia has seen an unprecedented boom in clean energy projects, 51 in total, mostly in rural areas. “It’s a job killer. It’s pure and simple,” Warnock said, urging Congressional Republicans to defend the credits.
The report highlights that for every $1 in federal investment, the IRA has generated $4.50 in private capital. Warnock emphasized that Georgia has been the biggest winner from these policies and now stands to lose the most if they are rolled back.
