The Creature Comforts Brewing company, based in Athens, is set to open a new cocktail lounge on Thursday, July 10th.

The new lounge, “Cura”, will be behind Creature Comforts' main taproom, tucked in between Rook & Pawn and Epiphany on West Hancock Ave.

A brand based on their brewery and collection of IPAs, Ales, and Lagers, Creature Comforts is broadening their horizons and focusing on made-in-house spirits with the new lounge.

Senior Director of Curiosity, Blake Tyers, is excited for the new variety of people “Cura” will welcome. “We realized there’s an opportunity for us to reach more people outside of beer, therefore bringing more people together through the world of spirits,” he said.

The 1,700 sq ft space will be open from 5:00 to 10:00 pm on Thursdays and 5:00 to 11:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The lounge will also be available for private rental 7 days a week.

Creature Comforts is not only a brewery, but they are a company committed to being “a force for good in the world,” according to their website. Through their brewery, they choose a recipient of their “Brew for One” program. The program creates a beer for the year and gives those profits to someone in need.

Creature Comforts has also created another program that helps the literacy rates of children around Clarke County, along with sustainability initiatives to decrease their environmental footprint.
