Athens has been ranked as fifth cleanest city in the nation

Athens has been ranked as the fifth cleanest city in the nation and number one in Georgia.

LawnStarter, which is a home improvement platform, ranked cities based on pollution, inadequate living conditions, inadequate waste infrastructure, and resident dissatisfaction—broken into small metrics like air quality, population density, and the number of junkyards. The dirtiest city in Georgia is Macon.

Nationwide, South Bend, Indiana, is the cleanest city, followed by Wilmington, North Carolina; Des Moines and Davenport, Iowa; and Athens. The dirtiest city in the U.S. is San Bernardino, California.
