On August 22nd and 23rd, the Great Southeast Pollinator Census will invite citizen scientists of all ages to join the count.

University of Georgia Extension's Becky Griffin founded the census seven years ago and will hold a webinar Tuesday, August 12th to share how participants can contribute to protecting the ecosystems of the Southeast United States.

She sat down with WUGA’s Emma Auer to discuss the census and how it has grown since 2018. Here’s that conversation.

Emma Auer is an award-winning reporter who joined WUGA as a full-time producer in 2024. She is also a graduate student in UGA's Romance Languages Department, studying French and Spanish. She covers the breadth of Northeast Georgia stories, from Athens City Hall to Winterville farmers' markets. Emma's work has also been heard on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
