The Athens community will get another chance to discuss the controversial redevelopment of the University of Georgia President’s House on Prince Avenue.

A community forum about the proposed reuse of the UGA President’s House will take place Tuesday evening starting at 5:30 at Athens First Christian Church Fellowship Hall. Historic Athens, the nonprofit that seeks to preserve the county’s historic buildings, will host the event.

The President’s House was built in the 1850s and is being sold by the University of Georgia. Potential buyers would like to build a hotel in the home’s backyard while preserving the original structure. At a presentation hosted by the nonprofit in early August, neighbors said they feared the redevelopment project would cause too much disruption.

The nonprofit says Tuesday’s event will gather input and promote transparency through interactive processes and discussion prompts. Historic Athens is inviting the community to drop in or attend the entire gathering, which ends at 7.
