Oconee County Library to host mental health panel

Integrative Medicine Initiative

A new nonprofit in Oconee County will gather mental health professionals for a panel discussion on Friday.

Let’s Talk Mental Wellbeing is co-hosted by Audre Blanchard of the new nonprofit Integrative Medicine Initiative and the Clarke County-based nonprofit Athens Parent Wellbeing.

The event’s organizer Monira Silk, who is the director of Athens Parent Wellbeing, says the panel will offer a diverse array of perspectives from Oconee County.

“We’re going to talk about universal trends in mental health like trauma and addiction and then we’ll also talk about more niche areas that might be more to do with caregivers, men, or faith,” she says.

The event will be held on Friday at the Oconee County Library at Wire Park beginning at 3:30 pm.

Athens Parent Wellbeing is an underwriter of WUGA.

Emma Auer is an award-winning reporter who joined WUGA as a full-time producer in 2024. She is also a graduate student in UGA's Romance Languages Department, studying French and Spanish.
