The Athens-Clarke County Government reached their decision on a resolution to hold opioid manufacturers accountable.
The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government held their regular session voting meeting on Tuesday, where they decided to approve a resolution to participate in several opioid litigation settlements.
The resolution marks the county’s agreement to participate in several lawsuits against drug manufacturers, to hold them accountable for the opioid epidemic and seek monetary relief.
Several settlements have already been reached between drug companies and states around the U.S.. The resolution allows the county to move forward with the state government to participate in the settlement.
