North Oconee and Oconee County chosen as 2025-2026 best high schools

Public high schools in Oconee County receive recognition for being ranked nationally and statewide.

North Oconee and Oconee County high schools were chosen as the 2025-2026 Best High Schools in the national and state rankings by U.S. News and World Report. Both schools were among the top 6.3 percent of more than 17,000 institutions across the country.

North Oconee was ranked number 509 and Oconee County was number 1,127 nationally. In the state of Georgia, North Oconee was ranked number 14 and Oconee County was ranked number 32.

U.S. News and World Report bases its ranking on College Readiness, State Assessment Performance, Underserved Student Performance, Graduation Rate and more. Last year North Oconee and Oconee County were also ranked among the top 6.3 percent among high schools in the nation.

“This achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of our students, supported by a strong academic foundation across all grade levels," said Superintendent Debra Harden. “It truly represents a K–12 success story.”
