Georgia’s Senator Jon Ossoff introduced a bipartisan bill that would help to strengthen Georgia’s energy security.

On Wednesday, U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Bill Cassidy of Louisiana introduced a piece of legislation called the American Energy Security Act to help strengthen cities’ energy infrastructure and lower energy cost for families in Georgia.

The bipartisan bill would extend the Natural Gas Distribution Infrastructure and Safety Modernization grant program meant to provide Federal funding to help improve reliable transportation and upgrade critical infrastructures through 2029.

Ossoff was able to deliver federal funding through this grant program to cities like Lawrenceville, Winder, Thomasville, Buford and more. The city of Toccoa was able to receive $8.4 million through this federal grant.

“This legislation will strengthen Georgia’s energy security by helping our cities modernize infrastructure. I am leading this bipartisan legislation with Sen. Cassidy to protect families, support growth, and ensure reliable, safe energy for years to come,” Sen. Ossoff said.
