The Georgia Department of Labor released employment information for Georgia from September.
The Georgia Department of Labor announced that Georgia’s September unemployment rate was 3.4 percent. This was unchanged from August and is one point lower than the national average.
While the number of jobs decreased by over 3,000 in the month of September, the yearly total rose by over 24,000. Jobs declined in sectors such as retail trade, government, and transportation.
According to Chief Communications Officer for the GDL, Shawna Mercer, reasons for this decline include “retailers operating with fewer in-store personnel…and ongoing efforts to improve efficiency in government operations.”
Data for October and November will be released on January 7, 2026.
