The Athens-Area Homeless Shelter, which serves families facing homelessness, has announced that it will move its operations to a larger location.
The Athens-Area Homeless Shelter will sell its current Barber Street location to a private buyer and operate a sole facility on Bray Street called the Athens Resource Center for Hope (ARCH) Village.
In a statement released last week, the organization said it will be able to double the number of families in its emergency shelter program from 4 to 8. Executive Director Olivia Amato says that the move, which will be completed next year, will allow families greater access to nearby nonprofits and health services.
