UGA revealed the new associate dean for curriculum at the School of Medicine.
The University of Georgia appointed Johan Bester as its new associate dean for curriculum at the School of Medicine. Bester began his position on January 1 after previously serving as associate dean for pre-clerkship curriculum and professor at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
Bester’s position will help shape the medical school’s curriculum by providing strategic oversight and facilitating continuous improvement of the program. This responsibility isn’t new to Bester. While at SLU, he initiated and led a curricular change to emphasize active learning and evidence-based educational approaches.
Wanting to make an impact, Bester wants to thoroughly train and develop physicians who will go out and do good in the world. He believes that having a strong curriculum is vital to training physicians to be able to make the communities they serve better and solve healthcare problems not only in Georgia, but throughout the United States.
