Georgia’s unemployment rate continues to hover below the national average.
The state of Georgia ended 2025 with an unemployment rate of 3.6% for the month of December.
The Georgia Department of Labor reported that the state’s unemployment rate for December had risen slightly from the month prior but jobs have been added for two straight months. Georgia Labor Commissioner Bárbara Rivera Holmes said that Georgia’s unemployment rate remains well below the national average.
During 2025 several sectors showed significant job gains including health care, social assistance, and administrative services. Jobs that saw the most job losses in Georgia were in transportation and the federal government.
