Brad Raffensperger, Georgia’s Secretary of State, is urging the Georgia General Assembly to pass legislation that requires Georgia citizens to have a Real ID to cast their votes in elections.

Raffensperger believes that adding this legislation will add safety measures in elections. “I have made Georgia the safest and most secure place to vote in the country. Requiring Real ID to vote adds an extra layer of protection,” said Raffensperger.

To obtain a Real ID, citizens are required to provide proof of U.S. citizenship, which can be demonstrated by presenting either a birth certificate or a passport. The black star in the corner of the Real ID is used to identify U.S. citizenship.
