- Athens-Clarke County Manager Bob Cowell has issued a Declaration of Local Emergency. As a result, general ACCGov office operations and workstations will close for non-emergency personnel beginning on Sat., Jan. 24 at noon through Mon., Jan. 26. Updates to the following specific department services are also in effect:
- Animal Services - The Animal Shelter will be closed on Sat., Jan. 24 through Mon., Jan. 26 for drop-offs, adoptions, and visits. Emergency services will be available by calling 911.
- Leisure Services - Leisure Services parks and facilities will close on Sat., Jan. 24 at noon through Mon., Jan. 26.
- Solid Waste - Collections in the Central Business District will be suspended beginning Sat., Jan. 24 at 5:00 PM for the duration of the closure. Trash and recycling collection services for commercial curbside, front end loader, and roll-off containers will be determined on the morning of Mon., Jan. 26 based on road and weather conditions. The CHaRM and Landfill will be closed on Sat., Jan. 24 at noon through Mon., Jan. 26.
- Transit - Bus service and the Multimodal Transportation Center will remain operational while conditions allow. More information, including route operations, can be found at www.accgov.com/transit. Service changes and cancellations will also be noted on this page.
- Courts - Details about courts and courthouse operations will be released no later than noon on Sun., Jan. 25 as conditions are assessed over the weekend and determined by the Chief Judge of the Superior Court of the Western Judicial Circuit. Jurors summoned for the week of Jan. 26 are not to report on Monday, but should call the Jury Hotline listed on their summons on Monday evening for an update.
