The Morton Theatre is looking to add a mural to its lobby. Professional artists can apply through the Athens-Clarke County website.
The Athens-Clarke Government and Athens Downtown Development Authority, in partnership with the Morton Theatre, are looking for an artist to create a mural that will enhance and celebrate how the Morton Theatre has contributed to Athens and the Northeast Georgia region.
The Morton Theatre is one of the oldest African-American built and owned theaters in the United States.
The application deadline is February 27 at 5pm.
For Athenians looking to become more involved in fostering ACC's visual and cultural arts, applications to join the Athens Cultural Affairs Commission (ACAC) are also open. ACAC commissioners serve for three years on a volunteer basis.
The ACAC makes recommendations to the Mayor and Commission about public art projects. They meet on the second Monday of every month at 6pm.
Applicants must be residents of Athens-Clarke County and applications close March 13th at 5pm.
