The Historic Athens Welcome Center is inviting the community to attend an opening reception for their new exhibit. This free event will take place on February 12th from 4 pm to 6 pm.
The exhibit is called the "Emancipation to Integration: Black Education in Athens, Georgia." This display will share stories of formerly enslaved people, the legacy of Black education in Athens, local Black educators and students of the Reconstruction era, and more.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the curators of the exhibit and are welcome to tour the Church-Waddel-Brumby House. For people that are interested in attending, you can visit the Historic Athens Welcome Center website to RSVP.
