The Athens-Clarke County Clerk of Superior Court will request funding for S.T.O.P. Violence Against Women at the ACC agenda-setting session on February 17th at 6 p.m. This grant will assist law enforcement and prosecution strategies to respond to crimes of violence against women.
The funds will go towards one full-time position that will handle domestic violence cases, criminal protective orders, and temporary protective orders. If awarded, there will be $55,000 to fund the 2026 calendar year.
The S.T.O.P. Violence Against Women Act Grant Program is administered in the State of Georgia by the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. This approach is used to improve the criminal justice system’s response to violent crimes against women.
