The new facility features the Spec Towns Track, a nine-lane 400-meter track with area dedicated to jumps on the infield.

To commemorate the University of Georgia's newly constructed track and field complex, members of UGA and UGA’s Athletic Association held a dedication ceremony, followed by a ribbon-cutting inside the track’s front gate on Wednesday.

The Track and Field Complex stretches over 37 acres and features over 34,000 square feet of facilities and the Spec Towns Track. Jere W. Morehead, UGA President, felt that it was fitting to celebrate the opening of their new facility.

“Our world-class athletes deserve nothing less than world-class facilities, and, as I am sure our coaches and student-athletes can attest, the new track and field complex certainly lives up to this lofty standard,” said Morehead.

Georgia is scheduled to host two home meets at the facility this spring. The Spec Towns Invitational is scheduled for April 9th through the 11th, and the Torrin Lawrence Memorial will be held on May 2nd.
