The Athens-Clarke County Government Solid Waste Department announced that it’ll be transitioning its leaf and limb collection program from a six-week collection schedule to a four-week collection rotation, as well as reorganizing the former six service areas into four collection zones.
The leaf and limb program is designed to reduce waste and promote composting through curbside collection of leaves, limbs, and small branches. This service is provided with no additional cost to Athens-Clarke County residences, except for apartments and residences located on private roads.
The new four-week collection was approved by the Mayor and Commission back in June 2025 and funded as a part of the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget. For more information, including instructions on locating new collection zones, visit the Athens-Clarke County Government website.
