Vice President JD Vance and Erika Kirk, CEO and chair of Turning Point USA, will visit Athens next month.
Turning Point, a conservative organization founded by Erika Kirk’s late husband, Charlie Kirk, announced a new tour of five college towns, with Athens as the second stop. The event, titled “This is the Turning Point Tour,” will come to Athens on April 14th.
More visits will be announced soon, according to the tour’s website.
The event description says that “each stop is a chance to honor Charlie’s mission and keep the fight alive. We know he wouldn’t want us to surrender or be coerced into silence. Free speech is only free if we use our voices.”
Charlie Kirk, a right-wing political activist, was shot and killed last September while speaking at a similar event on the Utah Valley University campus. He had visited Athens previously in October of 2024 as a stop on his “You're Being Brainwashed Tour.”
Each stop on the tour features a different set of speakers, and some notable names on the docket include Donald Trump Jr., Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, and Border Czar Tom Homan.
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m., and attendees can register for tickets for free online. Tickets are first come, first served. For more information and to register, visit theturningpointtour.com.
