House Bill 1199 successfully passed through the Georgia House of Representatives March 18th. The bill would suspend the state’s motor fuel tax for 60 days if it can also pass through the state’s senate.

According to AAA, the average price of gas in Athens is $3.79. Last year, it was $2.93. The rising gas prices across the U.S. have been attributed to the ongoing conflict with Iran.

If the bill makes it to Kemp’s desk and is signed, gas prices would fall within days.
