The Bulldog Basics is a resource program that provides students at the University of Georgia with personal care items to meet their basic needs. This month will be 10 years since the program began in March 2016.
It is led by the Student Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and was founded in collaboration with UGA staff member Cara Winston Simmons. The program began with one goal - to make sure students don’t have to choose between buying shampoo and textbooks.
Currently, the Bulldog Basics operates through an online store and students can order up to five items per week. Since the 2025-2026 academic year, students have received more than 765 orders. Bulldog Basics has saved students more than $95,000 since 2020.
