Prince Avenue cornerstone cafe, Hendershot’s, will remain open despite an earlier announcement that the business would soon cease operations. Owner Seth Hendershot revealed at Thursday night’s monthly Jazz Jam that the venue has been bought by unnamed locals who will be introduced when he hands his keys over at the end of the month.
In a heartfelt social media post earlier this month, Hendershot declared his decision to close the coffee shop, bar, music venue hybrid, stating he was “completely burnt out” after 15 years of service. He mentioned his attempts to sell the shop to a person “with a similar vision and greater business acumen and energy” as him, but said he had been unable to find anyone.
His plans for a final day festival on Mar. 31 remain, with curated music, poetry and art planned from 7:30am to midnight. The new owners will be announced during the festivities.
