Athens community members can give input on the West Broad School Complex design planning process Tuesday, March 31st.

Clarke County School District (CCSD) announced a public design charrette as the “next step” of its revitalization of the school complex. A charrette is an intensive workshop aimed at forming a design for a project.

Some of the goals for the meeting include understanding the buildings’ conditions, exploring renovation options and engaging participants in construction planning.

The district has already held two public update sessions on the future of West Broad School Complex. One of the main proposals made for the property is to allow the Athens Community Career Academy to use the space for a new construction career pathway for CCSD high school students. Another is to incorporate a “heritage room” to preserve local education history.

The meeting will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Vernon Payne Meeting Hall at the District Office at 595 Prince Ave.
