Clarke and Oconee County high schools earned multiple statewide honors for student performance on Advanced Placement exams, according to a list released last week by State School Superintendent Richard Woods.

For the second straight year, Clarke Central High School received recognition in six of seven AP Honor School categories, including AP School of Distinction. Cedar Shoals High School earned honors in three categories based on results from 2025 AP exams administered last spring.

Clarke Central was also named both an AP STEM School and AP STEM Achievement School.

Both schools earned AP Humanities School and AP Humanities Achievement School designations.

The schools were additionally recognized as AP Access and Support schools for continued success in expanding AP participation and achievement among African American and Hispanic students.

North Oconee and Oconee County were recognized as AP Schools of Distinction, as well as for AP Humanities, AP Humanities Achievement, AP STEM, and AP STEM Achievement.
