CLARKE COUNTY

MAYOR OF ATHENS

Tim Denson and Dexter Fisher are headed to a runoff election. Denson took 38 percent of the vote to Fisher’s 27 percent.

COUNTY COMMISSION DISTRICT 1

Incumbent Patrick Davenport wins with 78 percent.

COUNTY COMMISSION DISTRICT 3

Incumbent Tiffany Taylor wins with 57 percent.

COUNTY COMMISSION DISTRICT 5

A runoff between Kimberly Bennett who gained 35 percent of the vote and Craig Topple with 31 percent.

COUNTY COMMISSION DISTRICT 7

Edward Tolley tops Bennie Coleman 74 to 26 percent.

COUNTY COMMISSION DISTRICT 9

Incumbent Ovita Thornton and Tracy Smith headed to a runoff with 49 and 42 percent of the vote.

BOARD OF EDUCATION DISTRICT 3

Reginald Willis wins over Carl Blount.

Heather Fletcher defeats Fred Smith.

Incumbent Robert Hooper defeats Joe Costing.

Incumbent Dan Lampe loses to challenger Angie McGinnis.

STATEWIDE

GOVERNOR

Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms dominates the race for her party’s nomination for governor taking 56 percent of the vote. Republicans Burt Jones and Rick Jackson are headed to a runoff in their race for governor taking 38 and 32 percent of the vote. Brad Raffensperger received 15 percent, and Chris Carr with about 12 percent.

LT GOVERNOR

Republicans John F. Kennedy and Greg Dolezal in a runoff, with 27 and 23 percent of the vote among seven candidates. For democrats, it’s Josh McLaurin and Nabilah Parkes.

SECRETARY OF STATE

Runoffs for both parties with Penny Brown Reynolds and Dana Barrett for the democrats and Tim Fleming and Vernon Jones for the republicans.

ATTORNEY GENERAL

Republican Brian Strickland has defeated Bill Cowsert and will face democrat Tanya Miller in November.

US SENATE

A runoff election for Republicans Mike Collins and Derek Dooley in their race to face democrat Senator Jon Ossoff. Collins received 41 percent of the vote to 30 percent for Dooley.

US HOUSE DISTRICT 9

Incumbent Andrew Clyde will face Democrat Caitlyn Gegen.

US HOUSE DISTRICT 10

Democrat Pamela Delaney and Republican Houston Gaines.

STATE SENATE 46

for the republicans, Marc McMain and Doug McKillip in a runoff. McMain with 43 percent of the vote and McKillip at 35 percent. A third candidate, Michael Broun received 22 percent. The winner will face democrat Ray Smith in November.

STATE SENATE 47

Incumbent republican Frank Ginn received 50.77 percent avoiding a runoff. He’ll face democrat Justin Gillespie in November.

STATE SENATE 50

Incumbent Republican Bo Hatchett and Democrat Dave Cooper in November.

STATE HOUSE 119

Incumbent Holt Persinger will face democrat Catherine Morris.

STATE HOUSE 120

Republican Gary Black Junior defeated Chad Paton and will face democrat Suzanna Karatassos.

STATE HOUSE 121

Both democrat Eric Gisler and republican Mack Guest ran unopposed and will meet in November.

STATE HOUSE 122

Incumbent Spencer Frye ran unopposed and will face republican Carol Hubbard this fall.

STATE HOUSE 123

Incumbent Rob Leverett meets democrat Hope Beard in November.

STATE HOUSE 124

Incumbent republican Trey Rhodes and democrat Melanie Michele Miller meet in November.
