The November midterms are four months away and the Athens-Clarke County Board of elections is gearing up for a full scale turn out.

On this past Election Day, June 16, 2026, ACC Commissioner Dexter Fisher made history by becoming the first Black mayor of Athens-Clarke County. He reflected on his win.

Several key partisan and nonpartisan races were on the ballot Tuesday, June 16th in the runoff election. Voters in Georgia decided who would be the Republican candidates for both Senate and Governor races.

Athens residents are heading to the polls today to vote in the local nonpartisan and general primary runoff elections.Today is the last day for voters to cast their ballots in the runoffs.

Last-minute endorsements are rolling in ahead of the June 16 runoff elections. President Donald Trump endorsed U.S. Rep. Mike Collins for U.S. Senator on social media Sunday.

Early voting will take place Monday, June 8 through Friday, June 12 at the Athens-Clarke County Elections Office, library and tennis center.

The candidates disagreed on a number of key issues at the debate hosted by AthChat Podcast hosts Drew Abney and Russell Edwards. They clashed over whether high-density development would lower housing costs and the causes of homelessness in Athens.

Ossoff and Bottoms each spoke and expressed support for one another. According to the Associated Press, their advisors described it as the first of many joint rallies as the candidates look toward Election Day in November.
