Athens Area Diaper Bank will receive $200,000 from Sen. Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock to expand available services.

Erin Campbell is the founder and executive director of Athens Area Diaper Bank. She said the funding will allow for short and long term growth.

“About half of those funds will go directly towards the purchase of diapers, so our community will see an immediate effect,” Campbell said. “And then, the other half of the funding is just to grow our space, so our capacity.”

Athens Area Diaper Bank partners with over 40 local agencies to allow families to pick up diapers where they are already receiving services, according to their website. Increasing available warehouse space will allow the diaper bank to continue to give out more diapers every year.

The funding was included in bipartisan legislation aiming to improve health care services across North Georgia that became law Feb. 3.
