Georgia’s labor force and total employment have both reached record-breaking numbers.
According to the Georgia Department of Labor, there are over 5 million Georgia jobs for the first time in history. Jobs increased by nearly 7,000 in May.
The labor force has also reached an all-time high of over 5.4 million. In May, the Georgia labor force increased by over 9,000.
The state’s unemployment rate fell to 3.4% in May. That is 0.9 percentage points below the national unemployment rate.
The accommodation and food services sector and the administrative and support services sector experienced the most job gains in May. Jobs were down over the month in the professional and technical services sector.
Initial unemployment claims were also down almost 2,000 in May.
