An Athens-area nonprofit is downsizing.
There are significant changes in store for the nonprofit organization Athens Parent Wellbeing, which supports mental health needs for parents and caregivers in northeast Georgia. In addition to closing the facility’s thrift store, ReBlossom, staff members are relocating. Monira Silk is the Executive Director. She says they are facing challenges with their location and expenses.
“So, we decided to rent a little space in a shared office complex called Athens Kids Collective and basically bunk with them so that we could afford to have a space for our support groups and then also start embedding our other groups and classes within the community,” according to Silk.
They are collaborating with other existing organizations to continue providing free resources for families. They include clothing, equipment items, diapers through the Athens Area Diaper Bank, and co-hosting play dates.
