Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is launching an investigation into Ready to Register and other third-party organizations he says have mailed registration appeals to deceased and other ineligible individuals around the state.

According to a release, the office has received several reports of voter registration mailers being sent to deceased Georgians, including one sent to a deceased family dog. The secretary of state’s office is reviewing whether the mailings violate state law.

Third-party voter registration groups regularly conduct mass-mailings before major elections.

Georgia voters can check their registration status by visiting the Secretary of State’s My Voter Page.
