The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved an additional $36.6 million to support disaster recovery efforts across Georgia, with most of the funding going toward projects through FEMA's Public Assistance program.

The program, which covers at least 75% of eligible response and recovery costs, has provided approximately $1.5 billion to help the state recover from Hurricane Helene.
The latest awards include $25.5 million to The Medical Center, Inc. and $2.7 million to University Health Services, Inc. for COVID-19 emergency protective measures.
Excelsior Electric Membership Corporation will receive $971,000 to repair power infrastructure damaged by Hurricane Helene, while Chatham County was awarded $441,000 for disaster management costs. Appling Healthcare also received $131,500 for building repairs.

FEMA additionally approved $6.7 million for Georgia's disaster case management program to assist individuals and families with complex recovery needs following the storm.
