Georgia farmers are still waiting for federal relief after the one year anniversary of Hurricane Helene passed in late September.

99% of farmers surveyed in Southeast Georgia lost power after Hurricane Helene, according to a new report from the Georgia Foundation for Agriculture and researchers at Mercer University.

The decline is largely attributed to extended individual and corporate tax filing deadlines following hurricane related disruptions.

Georgia’s governor signed a law Thursday to exempt federal crop insurance and disaster payments following Hurricane Helene damage from Georgia state income taxes.
