The University of Georgia has appointed Henry N. Young as vice provost in the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.

Young, who currently serves as Kroger Professor and head of the Department of Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy in UGA's College of Pharmacy, will begin the role Aug. 1.
As vice provost, Young will oversee the Office of Academic and Community Engagement, lead faculty and staff development initiatives, and advance programs that strengthen engagement.

He also will contribute to the university's health and medicine initiatives and oversee several campus programs, including UGA's signature lecture series and the Study in a Second Discipline initiative.

Young became head of the clinical and administrative pharmacy department in 2021. His research focuses on health communication, medication use and patient outcomes.

He previously served on the faculty at the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy.
