Colin Gray, the father of convicted Apalachee High School shooter Colt Gray, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
On Thursday, Barrow County Superior Court Judge Nicholas Primm sentenced Colin Gray on charges including second-degree murder. The judge said his crimes were based on negligence, not intentional, but he said Gray failed as a father.
“The warning lights were flashing brighter and brighter, and you didn’t get him help, and you didn’t remove his access to the guns,” according to Judge Primm. “And you failed to do the simplest things to prevent this.”
Prosecutors were seeking an 80-year sentence, while the defense attorney requested 10 years.
Colt Gray pleaded guilty to 55 counts, including murder, and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
